Well, as most of you know, I haven't posted anything in over a week. But that's what happens when you are trying to get into a new routine. Both of my children are in school this year and we have some other factors that are new in our lives that have made scheduling a bit challenging. Let me give you an example of a school day in our house.
5:00 am Eddie wakes up and starts getting ready for work
6:00 am Eddie leaves to meet up w/ his carpooling partner and he also wakes me up. I make up our bed and get ready (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday for work)
6:30 am I wake up Lincoln and Maggie's alarm clock goes off and she gets up. We make up beds, get dressed and get down stairs to eat breakfast
(the night before clothes have been laid out and ironed and lunches have
been packed)
7:15 am We are out the door on the way to Northfield Elementary to take Lincoln to Kindergarten and then on the way to Siegel Middle School to take Maggie
7:45 am I am on the way to Belle Aire Baptist Weekday school on Tuesdays & Thursdays Wednesdays I go to the church to work on music stuff until a 10:00 staff meeting.
On the days I work at the preschool and church I leave there about 1:35 in order to pick up Lincoln by 1:45. We go home and relax for about an hour and then we pick up Maggie at 3:15.
On Mondays and Fridays, it's not quite as hectic, but close. But if anybody knows me very well, I like to be busy with a day here and there to catch my breath. Looks like I got my wish.
The fall is already looking to be busy. Maggie & Lincoln signed up for soccer today and will play until the end of October. In addition to that, Maggie will be in the school choir and will have after school rehearsals beginning in a few weeks. What would life be like without children? I'll never know and don't think I would like to.
Have a great Sunday and maybe I can find more time to blog next week. We'll see...

Computer class
Right now I'm sitting in a computer class at church being taught by David Brandon. He is a computer genius that goes to our church. This is an introductory class and will divide into 2 different levels at a later date.
I think I know something about computers, but maybe I don't. Maggie probably knows more than I do about some stuff. But it never hurts to learn more, especially at my age. More later...

What a weekend!!
This past weekend was packed with many things. On Friday night, Maggie went to Smithville, TN to a youth rally. She had a friend to come over and spend the night afterwards. Of course, they stayed up too late and didn't want to get up on Saturday morning. We had choir practice, so they had no choice.
After choir, we went for a fun-filled night with my parents to a Sounds Baseball game . It was a double-header and we had GREAT seats right behind the plate and the best thing about it was, they were FREE. We didn't stay for all of the 2nd game, but we still had fun.
I've always loved a 'clean' ballfield. It only takes one player to mess up the work of many. Sounds vs. Royals, Saturday, August 9, 2008
Dad, Lincoln and Eddie at the game.
Me, Maggie and Mom at the game. We sat across the aisle from the boys.
Lincoln made Papa turn his hat around so they could be twins.
Papa and Maggie discussing the conditions of her grade contract for school.
Sunday was a great day at church and we had special prayer for all the school kids, Kindergarten through College. I think they should have prayed for the parents too.
Today was Maggie's first official full day of school. She had a great day and likes most all of her teachers. Lincoln got to meet his teacher today and see his room. He goes for 1/2 days Wednesday - Friday and then starts full days next week. We always take 1st day of school pictures under the big tree in our front yard. It's a tradition, hope you enjoy the pics.

Last Day of Freedom
Today was Maggie's last day of 'summer'. She starts school tomorrow, but only for 2 hours. However, she is excited. This year there will be 5 kids from our church that will be attending Siegel Middle School . How fun is that? When I was growing up, none of my friends ever went to the same school as me. We all lived in different parts of Nashville.
I can't believe my baby is going to the 8th grade. It seems like only yesterday that we moved into this house and she was 18 months old. Now she's 13 and in her last year of middle school. She even started a blog this week to document her life in the 8th grade, check it out magmoosthougts .
Maggie - I hope you have a wonderful first day and may this school year bring you many new and wonderful experiences. Remember who you are and who's you are. (remember that Mom?)

How do you know when you're old?
Nana came and spent the day with us before the kids start school. I had a staff meeting at the church so she stayed here at the house with Maggie, who didnt' wake up until 11:00 (that's another subject) and Lincoln.
Before I left, Lincoln had gotten the Sorry game out. For a little bit, Lincoln was winning and told Mom that "old people couldn't win at games". At which she responded, "Well, how do you know I'm old?" He came back with "you've got that stuff on your face" and he rubbed her cheek. But the best thing about it was she actually won the game.

Just simple faith...
Today my heart is full of joy!!! Last night Lincoln completed the plan of salvation by being baptized. What made it even more exciting is the fact that he asked my father to baptize him and he wanted Bro. DePriest to pray for him. What a cool thing.
In Matthew 18, Jesus explains to his disciples 'who the greatest in the kingdom' is. He says, "...except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." I always want to be as a little child with simple faith and an uncluttered heart that believes whatever Jesus says is all there is to it.
We thought that after shopping for school clothes and supplies this past weekend that we were ready for school to start. But now we know that he's truly ready for school. I know he's still a five year old little boy with lots of growing up to do and many punishments are probably ahead, but I can already tell a difference in him. Maybe only a difference a Mom notices, but that's good enough for me. Just simple faith...

Tax Free Days
Well, as most everyone knows yesterday and today were the tax free days to buy school supplies, school clothes, etc... Well, we did our part to not pay tax. The kids and I shopped most of the day yesterday and then today I cleaned out both closets, drawers and a toy box. I think we're ready for school to start next Friday.
Can't believe we only have one more week until we're back to somewhat of a schedule.
