Today was another great day on the island. We saw the sun for a little bit and actually got to go to the beach and people watch, read and walk. I pulled a crab out of the sand (my son would be proud). We took another 5 mile bike ride and I think we walked another 5 miles.
For dinner, we went to the Salty Dog Cafe on South Beach. Eddie doesn't like seafood so he had chicken. We then came back to Coligny Plaza for ice cream at Moo's Frozen Treats.

Anniversary Trip - Hilton Head
Thought I would post a few pictures from our trip to Hilton Head. We're still here, but don't want to get too behind. Our anniversary is actually in June, but that is such a busy time for us that Spring Break seemed like a better time.
We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We stopped in Savannah, GA on the way to the Island.
A cool bridge on Bay St.
A look down through Emmet Park, love the trees and moss
Didn't ride this Paddle Boat, but thought it was cool
A different look at one of the moss covered trees
...the weather in Hilton Head has been a little bit nippy and windy, but we've still gone to the beach just to hear the waves and feel the sand beneath our toes. We took a 5 mile bike ride today and walked several miles too. Tonight was the first time we got our car out since we got here.
The road side park that provided a rest during the bike ride

A friend that we encountered on our bike ride
Not sure how much sun we actually got, but it sure was relaxing...
More pictures to follow...Have a great day

Facebook.com
Well, I finally did it. I kept telling myself and everyone else that I didn't have time for a facebook account. I was doing good to keep my blog up-to-date and I love doing it. But today, with the help of my 14-year old, Maggie, I became a facebooker. It's really a lot easier than I thought. I still don't know all the details and how-tos but I'm sure I'll learn.
We have been very firm in our decision to not let Maggie have a MySpace account or any other networking account. But after logging on and creating my FB account I feel it's OK, so I've given her permission to have one. Eddie & I leave tomorrow for Hilton Head Island, so while we're gone Maggie will be working diligently on her FB page.
And yes, I did say we were leaving tomorrow for Hilton Head. The kids are at my parents' house and we will have a nice, relaxing time together to celebrate 20 wonderful years of marital bliss.

Spring Break
Spring break started with a bang. Lincoln came home on Friday with a low grade fever and sore throat. Of course, I was in Pigeon Forge and couldn't take care of him. Eddie did a good job though. However, on Sunday morning he was worse and I took him to the doctor and he had strep throat for the 3rd time since November. He was pretty puny yesterday, but by this morning and some doses of antibiotic, he was doing better.
We were going to go to the Aquarium in Atlanta, but thought we'd better stay close to home. So we went to one of our favorite places, The Nashville Zoo. So here are some zoo pics, enjoy...
Pretty birds, Lorikeets
This is the first time we have ever seen the Red River Hogs NOT sleeping
Giraffe, up close and personal
Lincoln is forever reading a map

Ladies' Retreat, 2009
One of the highlights of my year is the Ladies' Retreat in Pigeon Forge, TN. We leave on Wednesday afternoon or evening and come back on Saturday afternoon or evening. The crew this year was myself, Darla, Bonita & Terri and flat Carlee. Flat Carlee was a school project for Bonita's daughter, Carlee. So through her, you can see a little bit about our trip. Enjoy....
Flat Carlee with all the purses that we bought. I think we ended up with a few more before we left.

Siegel Cabaret Show, March 17th
Tonight we enjoyed a wonderful evening of music. The Music Department at Siegel Middle School presented their annual Cabaret Show. The choir, select singers, jazz band and others perform after dinner is served. Maggie is in the choir and the select singer group (audition only group) and she also auditioned to sing a solo. She was chosen to sing a solo and her Daddy played the piano for her and Logan played the acoustic guitar. Logan is Tim & Bonita Robinson's son. He also plays the drums for the jazz band, The Jazz Cavies. They are very good and Logan does a great job on the drums.
Maggie did a fabulous job on her solo. She sang 'Cinderella' by Stephen Curtis Chapman. There were some tears when she sang and the applause was very loud. We were so proud of her. She really did look and sound like a princess.

Aunt Pam's Bread, March 14th
At the first of the year my family (Mom, Dad, Brennan & Pam and us) decided that we would make a 'date' to get together every month for dinner and family time at each other's house. The first one in January was for my Granny's 89th birthday. In February we went to Bucca Di Beppo in Cool Springs for Maggie's birthday. In March, we went to Brennan & Pam's house. We also took a field trip out to the house Brennan & Pam are building.
As many of you know, both of my children are very picky eaters. Maggie has learned to like more things the older she gets, but Lincoln is still very finicky. He eats no vegetables and the only fruit he eats is applesauce. However, several years ago, my sister-in-law, Pam fixed some banana bread and Lincoln had some. We told him it was Aunt Pam's bread because we were afraid he wouldn't eat it if he knew it had bananas in it. He loved it and has ever since. But the little stinker will only eat Pam's bread and to this day he still calls it Aunt Pam's bread. And whenever he goes to Brennan and Pam's house he always wants to make 'Aunt Pam's Bread', so here they are making bread.

Class of 2013
I can't believe what we did today. We registered Maggie for HIGH SCHOOL. Can you believe she'll be a Freshman in the fall? I had to shake myself. But we are really very proud of her. She has all honors classes including English, Algebra, Biology and Spanish.
So begins another chapter in our lives. Of course through the whole thing Lincoln is sitting in the corner playing his Nintendo DS. We'll be back with him in 8 years. Maybe we will have recuperated by then.
Have a great rest of the week.

Favorite things
Yesterday the weather was perfect. So perfect we had to enjoy it and as you can see, this is the way that my children chose to have a good time, doing their favorite things. Maggie, reading and Lincoln, playing in the dirt.

Fox in Socks and Green Eggs & Ham
Continuing our Dr. Suess celebration, we had Fox in Socks day and...
Green Eggs and Ham for snack
In the afternoon, we had our book buddies come to the room to read Dr. Suess books. This is a 4th grade class that has partnered with Lincoln's class to help with reading. They also do art projects and other things but they always include a storytime where they read together. Lincoln loves it!!!
