Easter Weekend, 2009; Sunday, April 12

What a glorious day!!! The sun was out and everyone was in good spirits...glad to be alive and serving a risen Savior!!!

Before we even had breakfast, Lincoln was up and looking in his Easter basket. Maggie wasn't quite so eager, but was excited none the less.

Of course, we went to church with our new frocks on...we tried to match, so that was fun. We did special music for Pastor DePriest's message, Matthew 28. It was alot of hard work to learn but Jubilance did an excellent job. Thanks, team!!!

We had an Easter Egg hunt after church and then on to Joyce's (Mother-in-law) for dinner with family and another Easter Egg Hunt. Monday was Ember's birthday, so we celebrated that too.

Once again, Enjoy the pics...

Easter Weekend, 2009: Saturday, April 11

Saturday was a good day. Maggie spent the morning with our youth group helping to clear away debris from a teenage boy's home. This young man's home was destroyed, but thankfully, none of his family was home. Thanks youth of TPOM.

Saturday afternoon was spent at my parent's home in Nashville. We played croquet, hid and hunted eggs and of course, ate a wonderful lunch (twice).

Enjoy the pics...

Easter Weekend, 2009: Friday, April 10

The weekend started off with the kids and I doing some Easter shopping for Maggie. We made about 3 stops and did lunch, then we got the phone call from my Mom that said "GET HOME, TORNADO's COMING". We were actually shopping less than a mile from where 1 of the tornadoes hit on Medical Center Parkway/Blackman area.

We were home less than 10 minutes before we lost power and then went into the laundry room where we stayed for about an hour and a half. We heard all the tornado noise, MTSU storm sirens, police/ambulance/fire truck sirens, etc... You see the other tornado struck less than a mile from my house and all around my neighborhood, but not on my street. The only thing we lost was power and for that I am very thankful and feel very blessed.

Driving around the area the last few days and seeing the devastation of my city has made me thankful not only for what material things I have, but for life, health, strength and my family all around me. God truly had his hand on my family and other families in my chuch.

I could post some pictures, but I'm sure you've seen them everywhere...Just be thankful and never take anything or anyone for granted.

God bless...

Lincoln's Class Easter Egg Hunt

Today was the Easter Egg Hunt for Lincoln's class. It was also the day before our TCAP testing starts on Monday. So we had a lot of activity going on...the hunt, we decorated hats that had something to do with TCAP and we also had a TCAP Pep Rally.

It was a great day and Lincoln was exhausted when he came home. He then went to a birthday party this evening (I didn't go, so no pictures) at Bounce U. I think we will enjoy our day off tomorrow.

Lincoln represented all of the Kindergarten classes at the Pep Rally. He was so excited. He got lots of votes. His cap had tea bags on it...get it? Tea Cap (TCAP)

Palm Sunday

Yesterday was such a pretty day and now we have the cold rain and possibility of snow. I'm done with winter and winter type weather.

Well, anyway, back to yesterday...Lincoln got some new clothes on Saturday night (Maggie spent the night with a friend so her shopping date is this week). So, he had to wear a new outfit Sunday morning. He looked very handsome and we are quite proud of him. He wanted to put his daddy's shades on because the sun was very bright at 9am. Enjoy...

What a Beautiful Day!!!

This morning I could have slept late, but the sun wouldn't let me. It was bright and shining through my bedroom window and I couldn't stand it any longer. We all got up and went to our favorite breakfast spot, Donut Country. Yum, a raspberry filled donut, could there be anything better? Well, maybe a chocolate one or maybe a blueberry filled one or maybe just a plain glazed one...I could go on and on. Then on to choir rehearsal, which I made short and sweet.

Lincoln and I went to a birthday party for one of his buds, Lilla. They played with bubbles and balloons, then went on a scavenger hunt for hidden treasure. After some cake and ice cream and opening gifts, they went outside and played in a swimming pool filled with sand. Oh, what fun they all had. And did I mention that for about 45 minutes or so Lincoln was the only boy. Is that a problem or a good thing? You figure it out.

We're on the way to finish up some Easter shopping. Hope you're day is all that you hoped it would be. Spring is in the air and I'm actually glad to hear the sound of a lawnmower.

Last Day on HH Island

Today was another great day on the island. We saw the sun for a little bit and actually got to go to the beach and people watch, read and walk. I pulled a crab out of the sand (my son would be proud). We took another 5 mile bike ride and I think we walked another 5 miles.

For dinner, we went to the Salty Dog Cafe on South Beach. Eddie doesn't like seafood so he had chicken. We then came back to Coligny Plaza for ice cream at Moo's Frozen Treats.

Anniversary Trip - Hilton Head

Thought I would post a few pictures from our trip to Hilton Head. We're still here, but don't want to get too behind. Our anniversary is actually in June, but that is such a busy time for us that Spring Break seemed like a better time.

We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We stopped in Savannah, GA on the way to the Island.

A cool bridge on Bay St.

A look down through Emmet Park, love the trees and moss

Didn't ride this Paddle Boat, but thought it was cool

A different look at one of the moss covered trees

...the weather in Hilton Head has been a little bit nippy and windy, but we've still gone to the beach just to hear the waves and feel the sand beneath our toes. We took a 5 mile bike ride today and walked several miles too. Tonight was the first time we got our car out since we got here.

The road side park that provided a rest during the bike ride

Not sure how much sun we actually got, but it sure was relaxing...

More pictures to follow...Have a great day

Facebook.com

Well, I finally did it. I kept telling myself and everyone else that I didn't have time for a facebook account. I was doing good to keep my blog up-to-date and I love doing it. But today, with the help of my 14-year old, Maggie, I became a facebooker. It's really a lot easier than I thought. I still don't know all the details and how-tos but I'm sure I'll learn.

We have been very firm in our decision to not let Maggie have a MySpace account or any other networking account. But after logging on and creating my FB account I feel it's OK, so I've given her permission to have one. Eddie & I leave tomorrow for Hilton Head Island, so while we're gone Maggie will be working diligently on her FB page.

And yes, I did say we were leaving tomorrow for Hilton Head. The kids are at my parents' house and we will have a nice, relaxing time together to celebrate 20 wonderful years of marital bliss.

Spring Break

Spring break started with a bang. Lincoln came home on Friday with a low grade fever and sore throat. Of course, I was in Pigeon Forge and couldn't take care of him. Eddie did a good job though. However, on Sunday morning he was worse and I took him to the doctor and he had strep throat for the 3rd time since November. He was pretty puny yesterday, but by this morning and some doses of antibiotic, he was doing better.
We were going to go to the Aquarium in Atlanta, but thought we'd better stay close to home. So we went to one of our favorite places, The Nashville Zoo. So here are some zoo pics, enjoy...

Pretty birds, Lorikeets
